Content Standard 10.7 Students analyze the rise of totalitarian governments after World War I. 10.7.3 Analyze the rise, aggression, and human costs of totalitarian regimes (Fascist & Communist) in Germany, Italy, and the Soviet Union, noting their common and dissimilar traits. Big Ideas: Totalitarianism was one attempted solution to nations’ problems after World War I. Totalitarianism developed more rapidly in a society used to authoritarian forms of government than in those with democratic traditions. Learning Goals: 1. THE GERMAN REPLY Germany was allowed to fashion a reply to the treaty draft, but its terms were summarily rejected by the Allies. What objections does Germany raise to the treaty? Are these objections valid? Should the Allies have modified the treaty in any way to address these points?
